 Mukhtar Mai to receive honorary doctorate degree

 MULTAN: Laurentian University of Canada has decided to award honorary doctorate degree to Mukhtar Mai, says a release issued by Mukhtar Mai Women Welfare Organization here Thursday.

The release said that the university's board of governors and senate decided to award honorary degree to Mukhtar Mai in recognition of her services in promoting education among girls, struggle for the women's rights and work against gender bias.

The degree would be awarded to her in the annual convocation of the university scheduled for Oct 30. She is also expected to address students on the occasion, the release concluded.
