Pakistan’s fight against terror on right trajectory: Miliband
Updated at: 0231 PST,  Tuesday, September 08, 2009
Pakistan’s fight against terror on right trajectory: Miliband LONDON: The British Foreign Secretary David Miliband has praised Pakistan’s fight against terrorism saying that it has the support of people of that country as well as the international community.

Talking to Iftar-cum-Dinner party here in UK’s Foreign Office , Miliband stressed the importance of good relations between its civilian government and military.

He said Britain was keen on seeing Pakistan develop a robust democracy and strong institutions and has been extending assistance in this regard.

“I think it’s very important that we celebrate the return to civilian government in Pakistan. I think on my last visit to Pakistan I saw the strength and the unity that existed between the civilian government and the military.

That’s very important. I also saw that the whole of Pakistani society was playing a responsible role in supporting the government and tackling terrorism and that’s very important for the future of Pakistan. It is also very important for us here.

I think a healthy strong relationship between America and Pakistan is also important and I think that’s what America wants and that’s what the Pakistan government wants as well.”
