KARACHI: A large number of police, Rangers and intelligence agencies personnel have been deployed at Karachi Cantt Station in the backdrop of security threat while the bomb disposal squad also searched the trains for any explosives, Geo News reported Thursday.
According to sources, banned outfits had warned of carrying out attacks on the passenger trains on not paying the extortion money before Eid. Therefore, heavy contingents of security forces and intelligence agencies have been deployed at the Cantt Station.
Due to the security threat, Rangers personnel also searched the Lahore-bound Shalimar Express and Peshawar-bound Awami Express with the help of sniffer dogs before departure.
The bomb disposal squad and intelligence agencies also searched the trains and allowed them to leave after declaring them clear.
The masked personnel of Rangers also searched the Cantt Station’s parking area and platform.
It is pertinent to mention that two bombs blast incidents have already occurred in the past few days. The first explosive device went off near Tando Adam junction that damaged a main railway track while another occurred in Shalimar Express near Toba Tek Singh.
