At least 17 dead in Chiniot truck-van-collision-caused fire

CHINIOT: At least 17 people died after a passenger van collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction here on Monday night, Geo News reported.

Sources said most of the victims were burnt alive after the compressed natural gas (CNG) cylinders in the van exploded in a ball of fire following the head-on collision on Lahore road.

The unfortunate passenger van, en route to Faisalabad, was coming from Islamabad.

The scores of injured with many of them critical after suffering severe burns in the collision-caused-fire were rushed to the hospital, the rescuers said.

The police said that the van's driver, who was also burnt to death, was to blame for the accident.
