Gruesome violence leaves 12 dead on Karachi streets
KARACHI: Twelve people lost their lives and several others were injured, as the provincial capital witnessed gruesome incidents of violence one after another on Tuesday.

Starting from the last incident that occurred Tuesday night, four people were gunned down while one sustained injuries in Sakhi Hassan area of North Nazimabad.

According to police sources, unidentified armed men opened fire on a Hilux near Sakhi Hassan Chowrangi, injuring five people traveling in the vehicle. They were being rushed to a local hospital when four of them succumbed to their injuries.

One of the deceased has been identified as Mushtaq Mohmand, sources said. He used to carry out fund raising for outlawed organizations in Manghopir area, the sources added.

Mushtaq Mohmand had also contested elections for a Sindh assembly seat from Manghopir area while he owned and ran several illegal hydrants, sources said.

The firing prompted the passers by to run for safety while the incident sent a wave of fear across the area.

Earlier today, Unknown gunmen opened fire on a car at University Road and killed Allama Deedar Jalbani, Deputy General Secretary of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen and his bodyguard.

Later, at least three people including two foreign nationals were gunned down in North Nazimabad area.

According to reports, all the deceased were affiliated with the Tableeghi Jamaat while two of them were Moroccan nationals, who were staying at a nearby mosque.

A man was shot dead by unknown armed assailants in Ittihad Town while one more person was killed in a similar incident in Landhi area.
