WAGAH: Pakistan and Indian border security officials held a meeting here Tuesday to discuss issues at the border, Geo News reported.
Pakistan delegation was led by DG Rangers Punjab Major General Tahir Javed while the BSF Director General Subhash Jushi led the Indian delegation.
Sources said the officials discussed unprovoked firing incidents at the Line of Control (LoC). They also agreed in principle on the return of the prisoners who have completed their sentence in both the countries.
They also agreed on joint patrolling to halt smuggling and illegal movement at the border.
The meeting was held a day after Director General Military Operations of India and Pakistan held face-toface talks for the first time after 14 years.
DGMOs meeting:
Director Generals Military Operations (DGMOs) of Pakistan and India held face-to-face talks for the first time in 14 years here at the Wagah border post and agreed to make their hotline contact more effective and result-oriented.
Both sides also decided to hold two flag meetings between brigade commanders on the Line of Control (LoC) in the near future to ensure peace and tranquility (along the LoC).The meeting pondered over issues related to the Line of Control (LoC), Working Boundary ceasefire agreement inked in 2003.
The five-member Pakistan military delegation was headed by DGMO Major General Aamer Riaz and was assisted by one Brigadier and three lieutenant colonels, while the six-member Indian delegation was headed by DGMO Lieutenant General Vinod Bhatia and was assisted by two brigadiers and three lieutenant colonels.
