ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said no army representative will be included in the new committee for talks with the Taliban. He, however, added that the armed force backed the panel, which he said would be announced within two to three days.
He said that the committee will consist of three or four bureaucrats to hold direct talks with the Taliban.
The minister clarified that the army at no stage had expressed concerns over the talk committee or negotiation process.
“Army’s behavior has always been positive,” he said and added that Maulana Samiul Haq’s committee will move forward the process.
