KARACHI: Terrorists opened fire near the Airport Security Force (ASF) academy adjacent to the old airport on Tuesday.
After firing the terrorists retreated back into Pehlwan Goth. Two people have been arrested in the door to door search operation which was launched by the Rangers and police.
The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the incident.
DG ISPR Major General Asim Bajwa said three to four terrorists fired near the ASF Academy and then retreated, adding that there was no breach of fence.

Flight operations at Karachi airport resumed after being suspended for an hour during which flights were diverted to other cities.
On Sunday night ten terrorists launched a six hour terror attack at terminal one of Karachi airport killing at least 28 people.
Firing Not Attack
Security forces dispelled reports that the ASF Academy had been attacked; emphasizing that terrorists opened fire and then retreated.
DG Rangers said the airport was 100 per cent secure and there was no attack. He added that this was a hit and run incident aimed at creating panic. The Rangers Sector Commander said the media reporting of the incident was irresponsible.
The police chief of Karachi said firing had taken place but this was not an attack. He called on the media to refrain from sensationalism.
Colonel Tahir Ali from the ASF said no attack had taken place and there had been no injuries. He added that two terrorists had opened fire and then fled.
