ECP rebuffs allegations of poll rigging
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday brushed aside the allegations of rigging in the general elections of May 2013.

A meeting of ECP chaired by Acting Election Commissioner Anwar Zaheer Jamali was held in a local hotel here.

ECP members discussed the recent statements of ex-additional secretary Afzal Khan and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan, condemning the allegations of the former as baseless.

ECP officials further stated that the services of Returning Officers (ROs) were taken from the judiciary on the request of political parties. They said even the foreign observers praised the ECP for holding fair and free elections.

During the meeting Printing Corporation officials informed the Commission that ballot papers were printed under the surveillance of the army and remaining material was set ablaze.
