RIYADH: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Rashad Mahmood, who is on an official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, met with King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud on Tuesday.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Gen Mahmood conveyed good wishes of the government and armed forces of Pakistan to the newly sworn king of the Arab state.
While expressing condolences on the sad demise of King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and appreciating his efforts in the fields of economic development and counter terrorism, the CJCSC wished the Saudi leadership success and prosperity in the face of tough challenges ahead.
General Rashad also called on Defence Minister Muhammad Bin Sulman Bin Abdul Aziz, Commander of Saudi Arabian National Guards Miteb Bin Abdullah, Deputy Interior Minister Abdul Rahman Bin Ali Al-Rubaian and Chief of General Staff General Abdul Rehman Bin Saleh Al-Bunyan.
Matters of professional interest, which included defence production collaboration and exchange programmes and training among others were discussed a the meetings.
The discussions with dignitaries also focused on evolving regional security situation.
General Rashad Mahmood explained the steps taken by the government under the National Action Plan, effects of operation Zarb-e-Azb and improving relations with new Afghan government.
Earlier, the CJCSC visited King Abdul Aziz Military Academy in Riyadh. He appreciated the standard of training and professional excellence being pursued by the Saudi armed forces.
