KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Wednesday said same terrorist group was involved in different acts of terrorism in the city including the bloodiest assault on a bus carrying members of Ismaili community.
Speaking to media representatives, he said the outfit, whose few members have been arrested, is behind also murder of T2F Director Sabeen Mahmud, armed attack on American national Dr Debra Lobo and suicide attack on a Brigadier of the Pakistan Rangers Sindh.
He said the Sindh police have arrested few members of the group who also admitted to orchestrating attacks on schools, Bohri community and police.
The chief minister further said the detained suspects include Saad Aziz, Ilyas Jan and Hafiz Nasir.
“Saad Aziz, an IBA graduate, is the mastermind of Sabeen Mahmud’s assassination,” Qaim Ali Shah said. He said Aziz was also involved in the Safoora bus attack.
He said one of the arrested suspect is an engineer from Sir Syed University.
Shah said that extremist literature was also seized during the operation in which the suspects were arrested.
“The Sindh police arrested the suspects within three days of the Safoora attack for which we appreciate them,” he said, adding that a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) would be formed to find out the name of extremist group.
