KARACHI: The death toll from blazing heat across the country has mounted to 572 in only two days, as people face severe hardship due to worst loadshedding in the holy month of Ramazan.
Many parts of Pakistan including Karachi witnessed unprecedented heat in the past three days.
Only in Karachi 300 people lost their lives after being hit by sun-stroke and other heat-related problems while patients continue to head towards various hospitals in the metropolis.
Worst loadshedding and scorching heat in the holy month of Ramazan forced people in some parts of the country to come out onto the streets to stage protests against the government. They blocked roads, burned tyres and blocked roads to vent their anger against the government.
However, according to Director Flood Forecasting Division, a monsoon system has come close to Pakistan and there is a possibility of rains in many parts of the country in the next 24 hours.
But, he added, at the same time, that a new wave of heat may hit the country in the coming week.
