Private school associations reject summer vacation extension in Sindh
KARACHI: Associations representing private schools in Sindh on Friday rejected a seven-day extension in the summer vacation, announced by the provincial government yesterday.

According to All Private Schools Management Association, all private schools in Karachi will reopen on Monday, August 3.

A statement issued by the APSMA said the districts that are not hit by recent flash floods and torrential monsoon rains should be allowed to resume education in private schools by August 3 as scheduled.

Citing upcoming holidays pertaining to local government elections in Sindh, the association said children will further suffer due to prolonged vacations.

The Sindh government had announced a 7-day extension in the summer vacations of schools and colleges to reopen on August 11. The official announcement came from Sindh Secretary Education Fazlullah Pechuho on Thursday.

Speaking to Geo News today, Pechuho said the government and his ministry will ensure the implementation of directives issued regarding vacation extension.

He went on to say that cases would be lodged against officials of private school associations for rejecting the provincial government's directives.

The tussle between the private school associations and the government has left parents of school/college going children in a state of bewilderment.
