Khan is not Pakistani, NADRA rubbishes Indian claims

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) dismissed Indian allegations on Thursday stating Usman Khan aka Qasim aka Mohammed Naveed is not Pakistani.

Indian mainstream media labeled the seemingly deranged individual to be a terrorist involved in an attack on the Indian border security force convoy in Udhampur in which two BSF personnel were killed and nearly a dozen were injured.

Indian media on Wednesday had a field day and labeled the deranged man to be “Kasab II” after the lone surviving gunman from the 2008 attack in Mumbai.

Indian Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh also claimed the identity of the captured individual to be Mohammad Naveed Yakub aka Usman, resident of Faisalabad in Pakistan.

While the detained man has changed his statements multiple times, Indian authorities, politicians and media-men continue to churn out sensationalism in the name of reportage. The detained man has identified himself as Qasim, as Usman and also as Muhammed Naveed. He claimed to have arrived in India 2-days prior to his arrest after a 12 day journey through the jungle then he claimed he has been in India since June.

Late in May this year, India had claimed to have caught a spy-pigeon which bore markings in Urdu and a seal as well. Indian authorities subjected the pigeon to a thorough examination conducting x-rays and having experts hunt for clues. The pigeon turned out to be part of a personal collection.
