ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Office on Friday condemned a US drone strike that killed at least four people in North Waziristan tribal agency the previous day.
A spokesperson for the Foreign Office reiterated Pakistan's official stance that such attacks violate the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The attack is a contravention of international laws, said the spokesperson, adding that the strikes have a negative effect on the local populace.
Pakistan condemns any such attack that violates its territorial integrity, he said.
The drone strike took place in Lawra Mandi area of Datta Khel in the North Waziristan tribal district bordering Afghanistan.
Reports said missiles fired from the drone struck a house in Datta Khel area, killing four people said to be affiliated with the Haqqani network.
The Pakistani military has been battling anti-state Taliban militants in North Waziristan agency since the Taliban's attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar which killed 153 people, mostly children, in December.
