KARACHI: At least 25,000 fake employees have been identified in the Sindh Education and Literacy Department while a list of 794 suspected ghost teachers in district Qambar-Shahdadkot has also been released.
Sources said that, during investigation carried out by AG Sindh office and Education Department, about 25,000 out of 155,000 recorded employees have been identified as ‘fake’ in the Sindh Education and Literacy Department.
They added that ghost employees were identified by the Deputy Accountant General Education, security and examination committee with the support of biometric system.
The education department has published in the newspapers an advertisement listing 794 ghost teachers, whose actual appointment record, service book and education degrees could not be found.
The officials, in the advertisement, have asked these teachers to appear in person and submit required documents to prove their existence and employment.
Sources added the list was published keeping in mind legal aspects in the drive to end ghost employment in the education sector. The sources added that other districts of Sindh are also preparing such lists for publication.
