Timeline of recent building collapse incidents in Lahore

At least 12 people were killed and over 70 injured when a factory producing shopping bags collapsed, trapping workers under the rubble in the Sunder Industrial Estate near Lahore on Wednesday.

This is not the first time when innocent lives are lost in such an incident in the Punjab capital as at least seven similar events ended up killing and injuring dozens of people including women and children in just past two years.

Below is the list of building collapse incidents of 2014-2015:

June 24, 2014

Two children and a woman died when a building collapsed in Lahore’s Hajipura, Kala Khatai Road.

August 14, 2014

Nine people were injured in a building collapse on Ravi Road in Lahore.

September 10, 2014

At least 24 people were killed after the roof of a mosque collapsed in the Droghawala area of Lahore.

Jan 14, 2015

As many as six people including bride were killed when a wall collapsed on a stage during a wedding ceremony in Lahore. Two children were also among the dead while 20 others were injured in the incident in Shadbagh area.

March 2, 2015

As many as seven people were killed and five others injured when the roof of a two-storey building collapsed in Wah Cantonment area of Lahore.
April 3, 2015

Rescue officials evacuated ten people who were trapped under debris as the roof of a two-storey building in Lahore’s Anarkali Bazar collapsed.

July 18, 2015

A seven-storey under-construction building collapsed in Rang Mahal Noor Gali area Lahore, leaving at least seven people injured.
