A former general of the Indian army was slammed by social media users last week after he angrily called for the rape and killing of women in occupied Kashmir by the security forces.

In a video that is doing the rounds on social media for the past few days, Maj Gen (R) SP Sinha, who is now a member of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), can be seen vociferously advocating war crimes.

“Maut ke badle maut [death for death], balatkar ke badle balatkar [rape for rape],” Sinha can be heard screaming during a talk show on TV 9 Bharatvarsh, according to the video that has gone viral on Twitter.

The remarks earned the former general a well-deserved reality check, as even the anchor of the show and fellow panelists can be heard asking the former solider to publicly apologize for the lewd remarks.

Earlier this year, a BJP’s women wing leader was removed from her position after she encouraged “Hindu brothers” to gang-rape Muslim women openly in the streets.

Indian-occupied Kashmir has been under a military curfew since August 5, when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi revoked the constitutional autonomy of the region and arrested thousands of people.
