KARACHI: Sind Information Advisor, Maula Bakhsh Chandio while clarifying on Wednesday that Rangers’ powers were not curtailed in the resolution passed by Sindh Assembly today said powers were granted to the paramilitary force as permitted under the constitution of Pakistan.
Speaking at a press conference here along with Law Advisor Sindh Murtaza Wahab, Maula Bakhsh Chandio said that Rangers’ operation would continue without any interruption.
“We trusted the actions undertaken by Sindh Rangers in the past and will continue to have faith in this force in future as well,” he asserted.
The Advisor Information wondered as to why the Rangers were not being given powers to stamp out corruption in other provinces. He suggested that rangers must not be involved in such issues that might make them a target of criticism in the days to come.
On the occasion, the Law Advisor Murtaza Wahab said the Rangers will be required to inform the secretary Sindh ahead of conducting raids on government offices. “Even FIA seeks the secretary’s permission prior to its raids on government offices,” added he.
