LAHORE: Bollywood acting powerhouse, Om Puri, has said that had there been no partition of the sub-continent, Lahore would have been the centre of film industry and theatre for India.

“Those banning beef-eating are hypocrites,” said OM Puri while talking to reporters at Rafi Peer film festival here at Al-Hamra Hall.

He said the incidents that took place in Dadri, India are a stigma for his country.

Om Puri said it is unfortunate that a handful of people are bringing a bad name to both the neighbouring countries.

“I ask the people (in India) if they consider Pakistan their enemy then why do their own children are being killed? Why are bombs exploding in their own mosques?” he said.

He noted tha there is one extremist group in India and Pakistani Ghazal singer Ghulam Ali faced opposition only in Mumbai. “It is common knowledge as to who is behind all this,” he added.

In a light mood, Om Puri, remarked that upon passing the above remarks if something were to happen to him in India, he will come to Pakistan.

Bollywood director, Madhur Bhandarkar who accompanied Om Puri appeared quite excited after getting warm welcome and love from Pakistanis.
