KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister, Qaim Ali Shah has approved a summary, granting special powers to Sindh Rangers.

According to spokesman Sindh government, a letter has also been dispatched to the Federal Ministry of Interior informing it about the approval granted to the extension in special powers to the paramilitary force.

He said the summary grants Sindh Rangers special powers to take action against terrorism, sectarian killing, target killing, extortion and kidnapping for ransom.

The letter addressed to the Interior Ministry states that the extension in powers has been granted with effect from December 6, 2015.

The summary, which was earlier approved by the Sindh assembly, was also sent to the Federation but reports suggest that it has reservations on what the summary proposes in connection with the extension in special powers to Rangers.
