GARHI KHUDA BAKHSH: Terming the National Action Plan (NAP), launched to eliminate terrorism and extremism in the aftermath of APS attack last year, ‘N-league Action Plan’, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Sunday said Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is being targeted even today like all previous eras.

Addressing a public gathering after visiting Benazir Bhutto’s grave here to mark her 8th death anniversary, the PPP chairman said his party had been a victim of ‘target killing’ in every era, adding that it still was being targeted even today.

Bilawal said the National Action Plan was nothing else but political vengeance. “This is not National Action Plan, this is N-league action plan,” he added.

The PPP chairman raised questions over effectiveness of the NAP, saying no major terrorist was held since its inception after the deadly Taliban attack on students and teachers of Army Public School (APS) in Peshawar on December 16, 2014 that took almost 150 innocent lives.

“This not the National Action Plan which was agreed upon by all political parties,” he said.

In his fiery speech today, Bilawal warned the rulers of dire consequences if his party’s reservations over Rangers and federal institutions’ actions in Sindh province were not heard in the Parliament.

The 8th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto is being observed today across the country.

Special prayers are being held in mosques for the departed soul of the PPP leader and the first woman prime minister of the Muslim world.

Thousands of people, including top PPP leaders, converged on Garhi Khuda Bakhsh town in Sindh, where she is buried at the family mausoleum, for the main events of the day.

Benazir's son Bilawal also chaired a meeting in Naudero of the PPP’s central executive committee (CEC) for the first time.

Special congregations are also being held in small and major towns to pay tributes to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. Several other activities have been planned to pay tribute to Benazir Bhutto on her death anniversary across the country.

Quran Khwani was also held at Liaqat Bagh in Rawalpindi, where Benazir Bhutto was assassinated in 2007. Party leaders and activists visited Liaqat Bagh to pay homage to the slain former prime minister.
