ISLAMABAD: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunhkwa Pervez Khattak on Wednesday said they did not need just a road by the Centre but the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in the province.

Speaking in Geo News program “Capital Talk”, he said he was certain that the western route of the CPEC project would never be completed.

Expressing his grievances over the project, the chief minister said his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will oppose plans of constructing just one road in the province.

“We want China corridor…corridors have electricity, gas and fiber optic lines along with them,” said Khattak, adding that CPEC corridor would only be accepted with all facilities otherwise it should only be called a road.

Responding to the chief minister during the show, Federal Minister Abdul Qadir Baloch said: “Let the road be built first, the rest of the work will follow later.”

Fiber optic line and an industrial zone would also be built in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said.
