KARACHI: At least four people including two soldiers of Pakistan Rangers Sindh were injured when a sewerage line exploded near a checkpost in the city's North Nazimabad neighbourhood on Thursday.

It was feared earlier that the loud explosion was a terror activity as it was heard far and wide and shattered window panes of nearby parked vehicles and surrounding buildings.

Gunshots were also heard following the blast, some eye witnesses told Geo News.

However, theSSP Central and bomb disposal squad confirmed that gas trapped in the sewer line caused it to blow up, producinga loud blast.

The two civilians were discharged after being treated for minor injuries at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

A motorcycle and an auto-rikshaw were also partially destroyed in the blast.
