Farooq Sattar's aide among eight remanded into Rangers custody for 90 days

KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Karachi on Monday remanded eight suspects, including an aide of senior Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Farooq Sattar and a director of the Fishermen's Cooperative Society (FCS), into Rangers custody for 90 days.

Farooq Sattar's coordinator Aftab Ahmed was reportedly detained by law enforcement personnel in plainclothes during a raid near Mukka Chowk in Federal B Area on Sunday evening.

Ahmed was among seven suspects presented before a judge of the anti-terrorism court today by the paramilitary Rangers force.

A lawyer for the Rangers informed the court that the suspects belonged to the MQM and were involved in the target-killing of over 40 people.

In addition to Ahmed, the other six suspects were identified as Saeed Ahmed, Afzal, Adnan, Sarwar, Kashif Siddiqi, and Akbar.

The court granted the Rangers' request for a 90-day remand of the suspects.

Separately, the Rangers lawyer also asked for a 90-day remand of Javed Younis, a director of the Fishermen's Cooperative Society.

The lawyers told the court that the suspect is accused of target-killing, extortion, and other serious crimes, after which the court sent the suspect into Rangers' custody for 90 days.
