Houston: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said Pakistan had to bear the brunt of 9/11 as it virtually turned from a peaceful country into a war-stricken region in the aftermath of deadly attacks on US soil.
The PML-N stalwart while addressing participants at Institute of Peace said Islamabad faced many 9/11-like incidents over the last 13 years and it was still hosting three million Afghan refugees.
He, however, claimed that Pakistan has never been as united during the last 13 years as it is today.
Pakistan’s military has been battling against Taliban and foreign fighters in the country’s northwest. Islamabad has reportedly lost over 50,000 lives during its war against extremists.
