Six suspected militants killed in Okara shootout

Police also recovered a huge cache of advanced weapons from the hideout

OKARA: Secuirty forceson Wednesday conducted a joint raid in a village in Okara, killing six suspected militants, police said.

Police and agencies on a tip-off about the presence of suspected militants, raided Okara’s Chak No. 28/2-R. Militants holed up inside a house opened fire on the police resulting in a shootout, police said.

Two policemen were injured during the crossfire, following which the personnel called for reinforcements.

During the raid, a loud explosion occurred in the house due to which its roof gave away.

Exchange of fire between police and the suspects continued for two hours.

Security personnel began asearch operation and found bodies of the six militants in the house.

Police also recovered a huge cache of advanced weapons anda map of the DPO office from the suspects’ possession.

After the incident, police began search for the owner of the house who had rented the place to the suspects.
