MQM resignation to pressurize govt: Mian Iftikhar

PESHAWAR: Information Minister Khyber-Pakhtoonkhwa Mian Iftikhar commenting on the announcement of Sindh Governor to resign, termed the move as an attempt of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) to put pressure on the government.

He said Awami National Party (ANP) stayed out of the by-polls to avert any untoward situation. We would have participated in the by-elections, had the Army been called in to supervise the polls, he added.

“We are well-aware of MQM’s history and its intentions,” Mian Iftikhar said, adding, MQM itself is involved the incidents of targeted killings in Karachi.
