LEAs round up dozens of suspects in overnight raids

KARACHI: Law enforcement agencies (LEAs) on Thursday night apprehended over 20 suspects in Karachi alone, while 70 others were held in Punjab for not having identification documents.

Rangers late on Thursday night conducted a search operation at CPO compound on II Chundrigar Road, according to sources. Paramilitary personnel conducted house-to-house search and arrested two suspects.

Meanwhile, police rounded up 15 suspects in search operations in Jinnah and Neelam Colony.

Two more suspects, involved in street crimes, were held during snap checking in Awami Colony. Police seized weapons and snatched mobiles phones from them.

In SITE area, four suspects were held with nearly half a kilogram opiumand weapons recovered from them.

On the other hand, search operations continued in other cities across the country as well. Police nabbed 70 suspected people in Lahore and Mandi Bahauddin for not having identification documents.

The Sindh government had early in Augustsigned the summaries for extending the stay of the Sindh Rangers in the province by one year andthe special policing powers of the paramilitary force in Karachi for 90 days.
