Obese man passes away in Karachi

Weighing 490kg, Abdul Jabbar was put on ventilator by his team of doctors due to breathing issues and abnormal vital organs

KARACHI: Abdul Jabbar the 38-year-old obese man who was struggling for his survival passed away at the Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Center (JPMC) on Friday.

Aresident of interior Sindh, Abdul Jabbar wasadmitted in JPMC two week ago.

According to Executive Director of JPMC Professor Anessuddin Bhatti, Abdul Jabbar hadmorbid obesity, was bedridden and has shortness of breath with pressure ulcer on the legs which caused complexities.

Professor Bhatti added that Jabbar’s condition was deteriorating in ICU for the last three days and he was being looked after by a team of specialists.

Initially Abdul Jabbar's medical team had decided to do bariatric surgery but due to the abnormal vital organs and shortness of breathing this was not allowed.
