KARACHI: Pakistan’s former T20 captain Shahid Afridi has once again lashed out at the role being played by the media when covering cricket.

The all-rounder who is known by his fans as ‘Boom Boom Afridi’ said the media would turn a player into a hero just after one performance and on the other hand heavily criticize someone who has been playing for 20-25 years.

"Our media makes a hero out of a player on the basis of just one performance and other times they pull down a senior player with 20+ years of experience after one match or one series".

Afridi said the media should not play the role of the selection committee.  According to Afridi, pressure should not be placed on Sarfraz Ahmed of Azhar Ali.

Shahid Afridi said he was completely fit when asked about his fitness. The all-rounder also confirmed his availability to play for the team. "When I fell I can no longer play, I will retire".
