ISLAMABAD: Senior leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Thursday challenged Pakistan Tehreek i Insaf (PTI) leadership to put forth a single instance showing that any national institution did not act upon their corruption allegations pertaining to the Panama Papers disclosures.

State Minister for Privatization Muhammad Zubair and MNA Daniyal Aziz claimed all national institutions concerned have acted upon PTI's pleas demanding probe of Panama leaks.

Both Muhammad Zubair and Daniyal Aziz lambasted Imran Khan for his alleged malicious propaganda against prime minister and his government and said the PTI chief was levelling baseless allegations on the issue of Panama Papers to misguide the nation.

At a press conference here, Muhammad Zubair said on one hand PTI had filed a petition in the Supreme Court and on the other Imran Khan had announced to shut down Islamabad.

He said that PTI had gone to different forums including apex court and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) against the PM.

Every institution did its work after the Panama Papers, he said, adding that PTI did not attend meeting of National Assembly Finance Committee where all Heads of Institutions like State Bank, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) gave a briefing on Panama leaks.

Zubair said, "Imran Khan was disgracing the government organisations every day and levelling groundless allegations against them", asking the PTI leadership to tell specifically what they could have done if the Panama leaks had emerged during their government.

He said that PTI spokesman Naeemul Haq had expressed confidence in the ECP at a point, but now his party was again mistrusting the polls body.

Daniyal said, "Imran Khan was trying to befool the nation by hurling unfounded allegations as he did before casting aspersions about the fairness of elections and then said these were mere political statements".

The PML-N lawmaker said PTI workers should ask their leadership about truth of these allegations and visit the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) website to confirm facts.

"The ICIJ itself deleted name of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif after initially including it and later made corrections in many of its assertions posted on its website about Sharif family," he added.

He said the PTI leadership was not responding to questions raised by PML-N, which showed their ulterior motives.

Aziz said Panama Papers only included five papers stating that Maryam Nawaz Sharif was just a beneficial owner and not actual owner of any property in London.

The legislator said in 2012 Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) conspired along with 12 other parties and signed an agreement as a tactic to defer holding of elections which the PML-N was likely to win.

Daniyal Aziz went on to say that the disqualification case against the Premier Sharif offers no promise and advised Imran Khan, whom he described as a 'pack of lies', to stop befooling people.

Muhammad Zubair criticized Imran Khan and PTI secretary general Jehangir Tareen, who had earlier been referred to as ATM machine of the PTI chief by different lawmakers, for twisting the facts and the truth in accordance with their anti-government agenda.
