Imran Khan says expired tear gas was used by police on PTI workers in Swabi

ISLAMABAD:Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan claimed that on Monday night his workers were subjected to state terrorism.

He was referring to clashes which broke out between PTI workers and police at Burhan Interchange where Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Pervaiz Khatak tried to lead a caravan of workers to Islamabad from Swabi. Police use tear gas shell to stop the PTI caravan.

The chairman said that expired tear gas shells were used by police. He added that his workers were unarmed and peaceful. “The treatment meted out to Pervaiz Khattak was how security forces respond to an enemy army,” he said, adding that traveling within the country was the chief minister’s constitutional right.

Imran Khansaid he was being targeted for no reason and was literally put under house arrest with police outside his Bani Gala residence. He alleged that police did not allow his sister to visit him on Monday.

He praised PTI workers for their courage and resilience in the wake of arrests. “I want to ask under which law are they being arrested?” he said.

The PTI chiefreiterated that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was a security risk and a person who is an enemy of Pakistan could not be his friend. He called the prime minister “Panama Sharif” adding that all Nawaz Sharif could think of was about “money and making more money”.
