ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar on Tuesday said that Imran Khan’s decision to postpone the protest in the capital does not reflect anyone’s win or defeat, it is rather a victory for Pakistan and future generations.
The Interior Minister was addressing a press conference in capital where he said that he wanted to apologise to the people of twin cities for the difficulties they faced.
“Wish there were no arrests or incidents of tear-gasing,” he said.
The Interior Minister said that a wrong impression was given that Pakhtuns have been wronged.
“Not Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s but a provincial government’s way was hindered,” he said referring to the PTI convoy’s movement under CM KP Pervaiz Khattak towards the capital.
The Interior Minister lauded the role played by the capital police saying that Islamabad police knows how to ensure implementation of law.
Police does not belong to PML-N or Interior Minister, it belongs to Pakistan, he added.
The government wanted the matter to be resolved peacefully, Nisar said, adding that the state’s institutions, intelligence agencies and judiciary should be trusted.
“I broke my 44 years old friendship with Imran ,” said Nisar, adding that violence is not shown towards those who one considers as friends.
Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif met with Interior Minister Nisar to discuss matters related to political and security situation of the country.
