KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan Thursday lamented that killers in Karachi are not brought to justice due to which people have lost confidence in police.
Speaking to media after condoling family of a PTI activist, Fazal Raheem, who was murdered in Patel Para a few days ago, Khan said Raheem was targeted and the police should immediately identify his killers.
"Fazal Raheem was targeted while returning from a party convention. Investigations into his murder should be taken forth with the help of CCTV cameras," he said, warning of protest if his murderers were not arrested.
The PTI chief also called for the case to be tried by a military court.
He went on to say the people do not trust transfers and postings in police, asserting that crime in the megapolis can't reduce until arrest of culprits.
Prior to this, Imran Khan arrived in Karimabad to inaugurate party office in Karachi's district East, however, he returned without breaking the ground in the wake of disorder there.
Groundbreaking for third Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital
Earlier in the day, he attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the third Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital in DHA City.
While addressing the ceremony, Khan recalled how difficult it was for him when his mother was battling cancer and the expenses faced for treatment abroad. He shared how difficult it was to raise the funds for the first hospital and lauded the efforts of all those who helped realize that dream.
He recounted how the Punjab government tried to establish a cancer hospital in 1990 and failed, adding, "They were bound to fail because the chief minister at the time was the incumbent prime minister."
The new hospital makes it possible for the low-income patients across Sindh to seek comprehensive cancer care.
The foundation for the new hospital, according to the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust, was laid by a young pediatric patient.
