ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office deplored the latest missile test conducted by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Tuesday, calling it a violation of the UN Security Council Regulation.
Pakistan calls upon the DPRK to refrain from any step that undermines the prospects of regional peace and stability, a statement by the Foreign Office stated.
Pakistan has consistently supported a nuclear weapons free Korean Peninsula, as agreed by all parties. It calls upon the DPRK to refrain from actions which run counter to the objective of reaching a peaceful and diplomatic solution to the issue within the framework of the Six Party Talks, the statement added.
North Korean state media hailed a missile test on Sunday as a success. The test has been criticized by China.
The UN Security Council resolutions, prohibits North Korea from carrying out ballistic missile launches, an aim at curbing the country's development of nuclear weapons.
