PSL final in Lahore: Punjab CM yet to make a decision

Cabinet members discuss providing PSL teams 'head-of-state-level' security

LAHORE: People celebrating franchises' decision to play Pakistan Super League final in Lahore must wait a little longer as PunjabChief Minister CM Shehbaz Sharif has yet to make a decision on the matter.

On Tuesday, the CMpresided over a cabinet committee meeting on security and safety duringPSL final, but the participants failed to reach a conclusion on it. The meeting will again be held tomorrow (Wednesday).

During the meeting, participants took adetailed review whether PSL final should be held in Lahore. They also discussed providing PSL teams with 'head-of-state-level' security.

One of the suggestions included that no car should be allowed within the vicinity of Nishtar Park Sports Complex, in whose outskirts lays Gaddafi Cricket Stadium, on the day of the event.

"Pakistan is going through delicate times," said the CM. "To ruin the mala fide intentions of the enemy, we need a united stance of the people more than ever before."

He further said that all steps must be taken to protect life and property of the people and anti-state elements should be monitored closely.

"We will not relax until we do not avenge the blood ofmartyrs [in terrorist attacks]," he remarked. He also said that staff appointed for integrated command, control and integration will be sent abroad for training.

Towards the end, theparticipants prayed for the people who lost their lives in terror attacks across the country.

On Monday, all the PSL franchiseowners decided to play the final in Lahore during a high-level meeting chaired by PSL Chairman Najam Sethi in Dubai.

Theteam owners took time to reinforce their solidarity and conviction with the decision of taking the final of the PSL back to its rightful home - the Gaddafi Cricket Stadium in Lahore - which is also the head office of both the PCBand the PSL.
