LAHORE: Rail passengers on several branch lines including Lahore-Narowal section are facing immense problems due to inadequate number of bogies to meet the great rush.

Hafiz Abdul Qayyum, chairman Daily Passengers Association told here on Sunday that trains were being operated with only two or three bogies on many routs. He said that passengers had to travel on roofs and at the doors, as they had no other means to go to their hometowns.

He alleged administration of PR did not facilitate regular passengers and cut off coaches from regular trains to operate special trains which caused problems for common passengers.

He demanded of the government to improve the situation on branch lines.

On contacting, Divisional Superintendent Lahore Javed Anwar said that six special trains for Nankana Sahib had been started for some days after cutting the number of coaches from these sections due to which the situation become serious. "There are many technical faults in coaches and locomotives and we have no funds to repair these ", he added.

Another Railway source said that coaches which were detached from regular trains, would now be used in special trains to Tableeghi Ijtema Raiwind.
