KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah expressed his regret over the recently issued whitepaper of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P).

Speaking to the media in Karachi, he said that it is a shame that the MQM-P doesn’t even know there were six divisions in the province.

“There are six not five administrative divisions in Sindh,” he remarked. “It now appears that in the MQM-P, everyone now aspires to become the next Altaf Hussain.”

He further said that the white paper was an attempt to promote hate and bigotry in the province.

“From London, the MQM founder exacerbated hate for every single community of Sindh. Sindhi, Punjabi and Pathan fought against each other. The same tactic is being used again,” he added.

Shah reiterated that the Pakistan People’s Party doesn’t want to pursue the divisive politics of 1990s.

“There are some who are issuing whitepaper, there are a few who are choosing sit-ins, regardless of their tactics, I want to make it clear that I know what are the issues of Karachi,” he said.

'Removal of IG Sindh, a routine matter'

Responding over question on the IG Sindh's removal, he said that the case is like any other transfer of police officer in the province, further adding that police is a provincial subject hence decisions related to it is domain of the province.

He said that a letter to the federal government has been written, however, he does not know why the centre is taking time on this issue.

Shah categorically stated that on the IG Sindh case, the final decision rests with the provincial government.

‘Will sweep Karachi in 2018’

The chief minister claimed that the PPP will win from Karachi in the next general elections.

“PPP won more seats in the 2013 elections compare to the previous polls. The same trend will be followed in the coming elections. The whitepapers and sit-in are an outcome of panic within the ranks of some political parties,” he mocked.
