MULTAN: Media, NGOs and civil society must play their role to ensure protection to children as they are future of the nation.
The speakers said at a seminar on rights of children which held here on Wednesday. Unicef and Social Welfare Department jointly organized the seminar.
Mohammad Irtaza, a mediaperson, in his address said media highlights issues related to child rights and it is responsibility of NGOs and civil society to continuously chase and keep raising the issue in order to reach at logical end. He suggested there should be coordination among mediaperson, NGOs and civil society as it is vital to end harassment against kids.
He also suggested that education is key to make people aware of child rights and it must be promoted especially in remote areas. He also urged upon government organizations to play their most effective role for delivery of rights to kids.
Syed Zafar Iqbal, an NGO representative during his address also urged mediapersons to highlight child issues. He also suggested joint efforts on part of media and NGOs in this connection. He also stressed upon government, NGOs to keep raising literacy rate in the country as it is vital in creating awareness about rights to kids. He also urged philanthropists to extend cooperation for ensuring proper nurture to kids capabilities.
On this occasion, scores of local journalists and NGO representatives were also present.
