LIMA: Five Dutch tourists and two Peruvians died in a head-on road collision between their bus and a truck in southeastern Peru close to the Bolivian border, police said Thursday.

Dutch officials traveled on site to repatriate the victims of the crash, aged 60 to 86.

The accident took place Wednesday close to the village of Chaca Chaca in Puno department. Another 27 people were wounded, including 22 Dutch tourists and five Belgians. Police have said at least 33 people were traveling in the bus to Bolivia.

The bus was traveling from Puno city to Desaguadero at the border. The two Peruvian victims were the respective drivers of the bus and truck.
