KARACHI: At a high level meeting at the head quarters of Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, the security arrangements with regard to Muharram-ul-Haram were reviewed.

An announcement here on Tuesday said that the meeting was attended by Director General Rangers Sindh, Home Secretary Sindh, CCPO Karachi, RPOs Hyderabad and Sukkur, DIGs and three security zones of Karachi, DIG Traffic Karachi, CID Investigation, CPLC chief, Administrator CDGK and senior officers of rangers.

It said that arrangements were finalized jointly by rangers and police for interior of the province of Sindh and especially for Karachi, Hyderabad and Khairpur-Mirs for ensuring law and order during Muharram.

The Rangers Sindh and the police have been put on high alert and temporary security pickets have been set up in the city by the rangers and police, which will be manned round the clock by their personnel.

Along the route of the main mourning procession, snipers of the rangers and the police would be deployed on rooftops of high-rise buildings to keep an eye on the miscreants.

Personnel of rangers and police have been deployed outside Imambargahs and mosques.

The law enforcement agencies have started a flag march in Karachi and in cities in interior of Sindh.

Snap checking, mobile and motorcycle squad patrolling has been further strengthened.

There will be a ban on pillion riding, aerial firing and carrying of firearms. Vigilant eye would be kept on the entry and exit points of the cities.

There will be aerial surveillance of the routes of the main mourning processions. There will also be monitoring through close circuit cameras.

Appeal was also made to the Ulema to implement the code of conduct and that they should foster unity, cohesion and brotherhood among the people and extend cooperation to the law enforcement agencies for the maintenance of law and order.
