FAISALABAD: The religious leaders and ulema, belonging to various sects and members of civil society, have unanimously expressed their determination to maintain religious harmony, brotherhood and unity during Muharram.
This resolution was expressed during a meeting held at the Circuit House here on Tuesday with the head of Ithad Bainul Muslimeen Committee delegation/Khateeb Jamia Masjid Data Darbar Mufti Muhammad Ramzan Sialvi in the chair.
Others members of the committee including Provincial Khateeb Qari Abdul Salam, Allama Mushtaq Husain, Allama Muhammad Younus Hassan, Qari Nazeer Ahmad and Dr Sufi Muhammad Zaheer were also present on the occasion.
Divisional Commissioner Tahir Hussain, RPO Aftab Cheema, MNA Haji Akrim Ansari, DCOs of Faisalabad, Jhang, T.T. Singh and Chiniot Naseem Sadiq, Shahid Niaz, Amanulla Khan, Dr Arshad, CPO Dr. Usman and members of peace committees of four districts in the division also participated in the meeting.
Mufti Ramzan Sialvi appreciated the sentiments of peace, tolerance and unity of clerics and said that they were lovers of peace and solidarity and the nefarious designs of unscrupulous elements would be foiled through the strength of their cooperation.
He urged all religious rites should be held under specified limitations and law should not be taken into hand in case of any eventuality instead the concerned administration should be informed about incidents and all-out cooperation should be extended to tackle the situation in a peaceful manner.
Divisional Commissioner Tahir Hussain welcomed the delegation of Ithad Bainul Muslimeen and informed the meeting about measures and arrangements taken by the divisional and district administrations.
He expressed satisfaction over Muharram arrangements and said that ulema of all sects were agreed on the point of peace and harmony and Muharram plan would be implemented in letter and spirit.
RPO Aftab Cheema appreciated the pledged of cooperation from clerics and said that security forces had been put on high alert for the protection of lives and properties of people.
He said the Punjab government had provided considerable recourses to police for making a comprehensive and flawless security plan.
