ISLAMABAD: The opposition parties collectively believe that the incumbent government would not be able to manage the electricity crisis the country is faced with.
Geo News spoke to members of the Parliament regarding the issue.
The chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan Farooq Sattar believed the government has taken the responsibility of "managing hell", which is why they were making the public go through the same.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi said the amount in electricity bills have doubled while theperformance of authorities concerned was zero.
On the other hand, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl leader Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman said it was not a lie that duration of outages has been reduced to four and six hours. "There are many far-off areas where people continue to face load-shedding for 18 to 20 hours."
While Senator Rehman Malik thought the claims of ending power outages would not prove to be true anytime soon. "Do not make promises which you cannot fulfil."
However, State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali stood by his statement, saying there will be a reduction in theduration of outages by October and November as the power projects they have been working on will become functional. "But those areas where electricity theft persists will continue to face outages."
