BIRMINGHAM: The former vice president of BCCI and currently the chairman of IPL, Rajiv Shukla has put another condition for the resumption of bilateral cricket ties between Pakistan and India.
Talking to journalist outside Edgbaston Cricket Ground, on sidelines of Pakistan versus India match in ICC Champions Trophy, Shukla said that security situation in Pakistan is one of the reasons why India is unable to start bilateral ties.
“After Sri Lankan team attack, no team has toured Pakistan. So, I would urge the government of Pakistan to make their venues secure so that teams of all over can start touring Pakistan,” Shukla said when asked about bilateral ties between the two countries.
“We want to resume cricket with Pakistan but security situation doesn’t allow this to happen, so unless our government allows, we cannot resume bilateral ties with Pakistan,” he added.
Shukla said that playing with Pakistan in ICC tournament is its commitment and both the countries should continue to play each other in such tournaments.
“Playing with Pakistan in ICC tournament is our commitment and we have to play these matches, and in fact, we must play tournament matches against Pakistan,” Shukla said.
Shukla added that Pakistan has got good cricketers and standard of cricket in Pakistan is very good, PCB must take advantage of this but they must secure their venues first.
