KARACHI: Police arrested a man from North Nazimabad for conning people by selling stray dogs at exorbitant rates claiming them to be pedigreed K-9s.

According to Gulberg SP Bashir Brohi, a local, Riazuddin, told the police a man called Sagheer sold him stray dogs claiming they were of a special breed. When the dogs were delivered to him, the complainant gave them a bath. Subsequently, the colour painted on them came off.

Riazuddin informed the police, who acted upon the complaint, and contacted the accused through another advertisement that was posted on the same website. The police arrested Sagheer and recovered four stray dogs from his possession, whom he had claimed were German Shepherds.

When asked, the accused told the police he and his accomplices catch stray dogs from the streets and paint over them. They put the photos up online after which people contact them and they deliver the dogs at their doorsteps, he added.
