ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered the release of a man sentenced to life 17 years ago.
The accused, Aslam, was charged with the murder of a man named Sarwar in 1999.
During the hearing of the case, Justice Asif Khosa remarked that "there is no eye witness of the incident."
He dismissed the case for lack of evidence and ordered the man to be released.
Justice Khosa added that the courts had not taken facts into account before reaching the verdict.
The acting chief justice expressed his dissatisfaction at the inability of high court judges in discerning the trial court's flawed judgement.
