ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Spokersperson Fawad Chaudhry on Friday claimed that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will be disqualified and sent to jail in the Panama case verdict.
The PTI leader was speaking to media after the special implementation bench of the Supreme Court reserved its decision in the Panama Papers case.
"Nawaz Sharif has lied to the nation, assembly, and court," Chaudhry said, adding that the premier had not disclosed assets linked with his United Arab Emirates based Company (Capital FZE).
PTI leader Asad Umar also congratulated the nation on the completion of a "historic case."
"It is the first time [in history] that an elected individual is being held accountable," Umar said in his media address outside the Supreme Court.
Awami Muslim League leader Sheikh Rashid Ahmad on Friday said he was confident the premier will be disqualified.
"We have requested the court to hear a contempt of court case against Nawaz Sharif," Ahmad said, talking to media after the SC reserved its verdict on the Panama case.
