EC announces election schedule for PK 87 Shangla-1

ISLAMABAD: The Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan Justice Hamid Ali Mirza on Monday announced election schedule for PK-87 Shangla-I of Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The assembly seat has become vacant due to the death of Muhammad Zahir Shah Khan.

According to a notification, public notice will be issued by the Returning Officer on December 21 while the candidates can file nomination papers with the Returning Officer on December 23.

Nomination papers will be scrutinized by the Returning Officer from December 29-31.

Last date for filing of appeals against decisions of the Returning Officer rejecting/accepting the nomination papers will be January 1.

Last date for deciding appeals by the Tribunal will be January 6. While the last date for withdrawal of candidature will be January 7. Publication of revised list of candidates is fixed December 8. Polling would be held in the constituency on January 24.

The Chief Election Commissioner has also appointed the District Returning Officer, Returning Officer and Assistant Returning Officer for the holding of Bye-Election in the Constituency.

Deputy Election Commissioner, Abbottabad Khalid Waheed, Assistant Election Commissioner, Buner, Pir Maqbool Ahmed and District Planning Officer, Naseer Ahmed will act as District Returning Officer, Returning Officer and Assistant Returning Officer respectively.
