Five Kashmiri youth martyred by Indian forces in Kupwara: KMS

SRINAGAR: Indian troops martyred five Kashmiri youth in Kupwara district on Tuesday, according to the Kashmir Media Service (KMS).

Indian troops killed the youth during a military operation in Macchil area of the district.

The bullet-riddled body of Ishtiaq Ahmad Wagay was recovered from Aalam Gunj area of Shopian. Gunshots were heard on Sunday night and residents later found a man lying in a pool of blood in the village, the KMS reported.

Several people were injured in violent Indian forces’ action at Somber in Pampore as well.

As a mark of protest against the Indian police, journalists from print as well as electronic media staged a sit-in outside the office of the SSP Handwara carrying placards with the slogan: “Stop harassing media.” Journalists were protesting against the thrashing of a reporter, Javed Zargar, by Indian police recently.

Zargar was stopped by Indian police at Watergam and manhandled after he told the police that he was a journalist.
